Charge VAT or any other tax at the counter without a calculator. Set your taxes once, and Oja POS adds them to every sale, or only the ones you choose.

If your business charges VAT (7.5% in Nigeria) or a state consumption tax, working it out by hand on every sale is slow and easy to get wrong. In Oja, you set up each tax once. The POS adds it to the order, shows it on the total and prints it on the receipt.
Before you start
- The Odogwu or Chairman plan for Oja POS.
- Your taxes set up in Oja under Taxes (in Account on the app, or settings on the web): the name, like VAT, and the rate, like 7.5%.
See the taxes on the order
Add the items to the order. Under Taxes, Oja shows every active tax, like VAT (7.5%), and adds each one to the total with its own line, so the customer sees exactly what they pay.

Remove or add a tax for this order
Selling something that is not taxed? Click the x on a tax to take it off this order only. Click Add tax to put one back, and Add next to the tax you want. Your settings stay the same for the next sale.

Complete and print
Click Complete. The receipt lists the subtotal, each tax and the total, so you have a clear record for your accountant.
Good to know
- A tax can be a percentage, like 7.5%, or a fixed amount, like ₦100.
- If you choose to pay a tax yourself, it is not added to the customer's total.
- Ask your accountant which taxes apply to your business before you set them up.
