Do I need to buy POS software or a POS machine?

No. Oja POS runs in Chrome, Edge or Safari on the computer or tablet you already have. You only need a card machine if you want to take cards in person.

Does the POS use the same stock as my online store?

Yes. There is one stock count for your POS, your store link and the Oja app, so you never sell the same item twice.

Can my staff use the POS?

Yes, on Chairman. Each person signs in with their own login, and their name shows as the attendant.

Why is a product missing from the POS?

Only active products that are in stock show. Restock the item or fix its count, and it appears.

Is there a POS in the Oja app too?

Yes. On your phone, tap New sale on Home. It works offline too.

How to Use Oja POS on Your Laptop or Tablet: Sell at the Counter Step by Step

Oja POS is the counter checkout for your shop. It runs in the browser on any laptop, desktop or tablet, uses the same products and stock as your online store and the Oja app, and every sale lands in your records the moment you finish it. No special machine, no installation.

Before you start

The Odogwu or Chairman plan.
Your products added in Oja, with prices and how many you have. Only items in stock show on the POS.
The payment methods you take at the counter switched on in your payment settings (cash, card machine, transfer).

Open the POS and find the product

In the Oja web dashboard, click Sell at the counter (POS) in the menu, the POS button at the top, or POS under Toolbox on your dashboard. It opens in its own tab, so you can keep it open beside the dashboard.

All your in-stock products show as cards with the photo, price and quantity left. Type in the search box at the top to find a product by name, or scan its barcode.

Add items and choose how they paid

Click a product card to add it to the order on the right. Click it again, or use + and -, to change the quantity. Type the customer's name and phone if you want the sale on their record; leave it empty for a walk-in customer.

Under the total, click how the customer paid: Cash, POS (card machine), Bank (transfer to your Oja Terminal account) or the other methods you have switched on. Your taxes, like VAT, are added for you.

Complete the sale

Check the total and click Complete. Oja saves the sale as paid, takes the items out of your stock everywhere you sell, and adds it to today's sales.

Print the receipt or start a new sale

A Transaction Complete screen shows the order number, total, payment method and customer. Click Print Receipt to print it, or New Sale to serve the next customer.

Which plan has it:Odogwu (₦4,900 a month) and Chairman (₦9,900 a month). On the free plan, record counter sales in the Oja app instead.

Tips for a fast counter

Click Full screen at the top so the POS fills the whole screen on a laptop or tablet.
A USB barcode scanner works straight away: scan an item and it goes into the order.
Busy queue? Park a half-done order with the save button at the top of the order and finish it later.
